This policy has two main parts depending on how you use EnTap: one for venues that use our service, and one for customers who order through it. Common information that applies to everyone follows at the end.

Part A — If you are a venue

When your venue signs up for and uses EnTap, we act as the data controller for the information we collect from you.

What we collect

  • Business details provided to us, including company name, address, and postcode.
  • Your merchant identifier and the payment credentials you provide to enable payments.
  • Account details: the email address and passwords used to access the portal.
  • Information about your use of the portal and activations.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To set up and operate your account and provide the service — performance of our contract with you.
  • To verify your identity and link your account to your business — performance of our contract and our legitimate interests in preventing fraud and misuse.
  • To communicate with you about the service — performance of our contract and our legitimate interests.
  • To meet legal and regulatory obligations — compliance with a legal obligation.

Retention

We keep venue account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and regulatory requirements, then delete or anonymise it.

Part B — If you are a customer ordering through EnTap

When you order through EnTap at a venue, your order is placed with that venue. The venue is responsible for your order, and for much of the personal data relating to it, as the controller of its relationship with you. EnTap provides the technology that enables your order and processes this data on the venue’s behalf, and also acts as a controller where we operate, secure, and improve the platform and prevent fraud.

What we collect

  • The table number you enter and the products you order.
  • Payment is processed by the venue’s payment provider. EnTap does not receive or store your full card details.
  • Limited technical information about your device and use of the service (see Cookies below).
  • Where you choose to provide it, an email address for your receipt.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To process and serve your order and provide your receipt — to enable the contract between you and the venue, and our legitimate interests in operating the service.
  • To take payment through the venue’s payment provider — to fulfil your order.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent fraud or misuse — our legitimate interests.
  • To meet legal obligations — compliance with a legal obligation.

Retention

We keep customer order data only as long as needed to provide and account for the order and to meet legal and regulatory requirements, then delete or anonymise it. The venue may keep its own records of your order under its own policies.

The venue’s role

Because your contract is with the venue, you can also contact the venue directly about your order data. For anything relating to the EnTap service itself, contact us at support@tipinc.tech.

Common information

Who we share data with

We share personal data only where necessary:

  • Payment providers — to process payments. Card payments are handled by the venue’s payment provider under its own terms and security standards; EnTap does not store full card details.
  • Service providers — trusted suppliers who help us run the platform (for example hosting, email, and analytics), under appropriate data protection obligations.
  • Venues — where you order as a customer, with the venue serving you, as described in Part B.
  • Legal and regulatory bodies — where we are required to share data by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place as required by data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and analytics

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies, including analytics, to make the site work, understand how it is used, and improve it. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics) are used only with your consent, which you can manage or withdraw at any time through our cookie settings. You can also control cookies through your browser. Further detail is provided in our cookie notice on the website.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including restricting access, securing credentials, and protecting payment and account information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • ask us to delete data, or restrict or object to its processing, in certain circumstances;
  • request portability of data you provided to us;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it (such as for non-essential cookies).

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@tipinc.tech. If you are a customer, you may also need to contact the venue where it is the controller of your order data.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first at support@tipinc.tech so we can try to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at www.ico.org.uk.
